Assistive Cane

APRO cane is a completely redesigned assistive cane that improves on the biggest shortcoming of existing canes;  versatility. I came up with the idea of designing an assistive cane after seeing my student Ye-Joon, who is physically disabled, struggling to carry many canes at once.

Ye-Joon is diagnosed with incomplete paralysis that makes him physically unable to move parts of his body. He brings three different canes to school everyday; a regular base, a wider base for better stability, and a sharper base for soft ground like sand.

Ye-Joon once told me that he wants a cane that magically switches modes depending on his needs. This inspired me to design a cane that simplifies the process of switching canes for different occasions.
